  1. What is your character name? Mason Ryder What is your Discord username? Chillzy#9961 Why do you wish to join the San Andreas Highway Patrol? Furthermore, what separates you from other candidates and makes you an asset compared to other applicants? Well first off I’m a hardworking person that thrives off of mistakes and learns from them. I’m also a very quick learner. I have experience being a LEO in other cities that will help me in the long run and I like to set goals that at first seem too hard to reach then when I do reach them I thrive for more, as well as I set myself a series of short term goals to make those long term goals seem easier to reach. I always stick to SOPs so that I don’t do anything that I shouldn’t. I am also a very determined person and don’t like to stop at any obstacles no matter how big they may seem at first. I would like to join the San Andreas Highway Patrol because I would like to be a fair and honest police officer to everyone in Lucid City. I also have great communication skills which are vital for being a police officer. I have them from being a cop in other cities as well as being EMS in Lucid City. I also would like to be a fair person so if I felt someone needed help I would like to try and get them help if I believe that it would help them and get them on the right path. I also know I would have great power if I were to be accepted into the police force and would like to use that power fairly to all parties involved no matter what, and make it an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. In your own words, explain what differentiates state law enforcement from local law enforcement, including jurisdictional concerns, and what duties you will expect to perform in the San Andreas Highway Patrol. Additionally, what other qualities do you believe sets the Highway Patrol apart from other agencies that operate in and around Lucid City? The San Andreas Highway Patrol mostly patrols the freeways, while the LCPD has jurisdiction over the city and the Sheriff's department has jurisdiction over the county. I would expect to patrol the highways and provide assistance to both LCPD and the Sheriff's department. The Highway Patrol is technically state police meaning that the Highway Patrol would be a lot more strict than the LCPD or the Sheriff's department would be in both who they allow into their department and of the rules that they have What is your priority in a situation - preservation of life (including a potential hostage situation) or catching those involved? Why? The preservation of anyone's life should always be the number one priority over catching a suspect. The reason why is you do not want to let innocent life get hurt, meaning that if we tried to get the suspect while he still had the hostage we could hurt the hostage or the suspect may feel threatened and hurt the hostage. After the hostage is safe we can then proceed to catch the people involved but not until the hostage is safe. While on patrol as a base-rank Trooper, you find yourself having a few negative run-ins with a Corporal after a minor issue on-duty that you felt was resolved. You feel that your disagreement with them goes beyond professional levels and that perhaps this corporal has a personal issue with you. How would you proceed in dealing with this issue, knowing that a Corporal is a supervisor-in-training and a superior rank to you? I would try to resolve any issue the Corporal has with me because it can affect not only us but everyone else if we are in a dangerous and or tedious situation it could get people seriously injured or even killed, if the Corporal continues on I would go up the chain of command and try to get the situation resolved the best I possibly can. While on patrol as a Trooper, you respond to a pursuit of armed felons that just committed a murder. You strike a civilian vehicle in the pursuit. Neither vehicle is disabled and there are no injuries. How do you proceed? First, I would call myself out of the pursuit and let other officers know that I am ok and to continue with the pursuit. I would then make sure the civilian is okay and since they are I would give them my contact information and continue with the pursuit and once the pursuit is over I would write a report for my supervisor and the civilians insurance claim. While on patrol as a Trooper, you respond and arrive on-scene at a bank robbery at the Fleeca Bank on Great Ocean Highway. While setting up a perimeter and beginning to negotiate with the suspects inside, you receive notification of a panic alarm being activated from an LCPD officer. How would you respond? Since I have already started negotiations I will let the hostage know the situation and tell them that I have to go because while a 10-90 is a high-priority call a 10-99 is an even higher priority and you must drop everything to respond to an injured officer no matter the rank or department. While on patrol as a Trooper, you respond to a call of suspicious activity - possible narcotics trafficking - in the vicinity of Grove Street. You observe a heavily tinted vehicle exiting the scene as you arrive and decide to pull the vehicle over for a traffic stop. Potentially citing case law as well as reasonable suspicion and probable cause, what are you empowered to do, and what would you do to investigate? Additionally, if the vehicle were to flee immediately upon sight of you, how would that change things? The first thing I would do is get on the radio and let my other officers know the situation and that I have the vehicle stopped and where I have it stopped I would then wait for at least one 10-32 because it is a potentially dangerous situation. Once that unit(s) or has arrived I will proceed to explain to the other officer(s) what I have seen and why I am stopping the vehicle then I will make contact with the people in the vehicle and ask them to step out so that I can detain them. I would then ensure the situation is safe and search all parties in the car and the car itself. Once that is done if I found something illegal on someone or in the car I will proceed with arresting them and reading them their rights as well as letting them know why they are being arrested, if I did not find anything I would most likely let them off with a fix-it ticket for the window tint. If they started to flee I would announce that I have started pursuing someone over the radio and keep updating the 10-20s to my other officers that are attaching to the pursuit once the other troopers get in the chase I would let secondary or air-one take the callouts and continue chasing the suspect until I caught them or the chase is deemed unsafe for the public.
