  1. What is your character name? Ace Ovspades What is your Discord username? Ace Hound#2334 Why do you wish to join the San Andreas Highway Patrol? Furthermore, what separates you from other candidates and makes you an asset compared to other applicants? I wish to join the San Andreas Highway Patrol to help to clean up the streets from reckless and drunk drivers. My family was killed by a drunk driver and so I am very passionate about the job. What sets me apart from other applicants is that I am always friendly and willing to learn from everybody. I would be a great extra smiling face for the department with LEO knowledge. In your own words, explain what differentiates state law enforcement from local law enforcement, including jurisdictional concerns, and what duties you will expect to perform in the San Andreas Highway Patrol. Additionally, what other qualities do you believe sets the Highway Patrol apart from other agencies that operate in and around Lucid City? State law enforcement officers patrol state highways and have jurisdiction throughout the whole state rather than a city or county. I beleive this makes state toropers much more prestigious due to the added responsibilities. The duties I expect to perform range from simple traffic stops or running radar all the way to high speed pursuits/ What is your priority in a situation - preservation of life (including a potential hostage situation) or catching those involved? Why? My first priority in a situation is to preserve all human life for the simple reason that death is irreversible. We can always return to catch the suspect later but we can never revive a fellow trooper. While on patrol as a base-rank Trooper, you find yourself having a few negative run-ins with a Corporal after a minor issue on-duty that you felt was resolved. You feel that your disagreement with them goes beyond professional levels and that perhaps this corporal has a personal issue with you. How would you proceed in dealing with this issue, knowing that a Corporal is a supervisor-in-training and a superior rank to you? If I had an issue with this corporal, I would contact their superior to see if we could both come to a mutual agreement. In the mean time, I would avoid the corporal but stay respectful at all times. While on patrol as a Trooper, you respond to a pursuit of armed felons that just committed a murder. You strike a civilian vehicle in the pursuit. Neither vehicle is disabled and there are no injuries. How do you proceed? If I were to strike a civilian with no injuries, I would call EMS or an additional 32 to stay with the civilian to write up a report or if there were none available, agree to meet at the station to sort out the situation further after the chase. While on patrol as a Trooper, you respond and arrive on-scene at a bank robbery at the Fleeca Bank on Great Ocean Highway. While setting up a perimeter and beginning to negotiate with the suspects inside, you receive notification of a panic alarm being activated from an LCPD officer. How would you respond? If there were no additionals available, I would have to leave to save the officer unless directed otherwise by dispatch. As I said previously, we can always get the money back from the robbers but if that officer was to die, we would never have him back/ While on patrol as a Trooper, you respond to a call of suspicious activity - possible narcotics trafficking - in the vicinity of Grove Street. You observe a heavily tinted vehicle exiting the scene as you arrive and decide to pull the vehicle over for a traffic stop. Potentially citing case law as well as reasonable suspicion and probable cause, what are you empowered to do, and what would you do to investigate? Additionally, if the vehicle were to flee immediately upon sight of you, how would that change things? Reasonable supsision is present due to the vehicle leaving the scene however there is no probable cause to search the vehicle unless drugs can be smelt by a trooper or kanine. Caroll vs United States would state that the automobile would be searched if there was probable cause such as if it smelt highly of an illicit substance. I would treat it like a normal traffic stop until probable cause is met. If the vehicle were to flee immediately, I would call for additional 32s as this has become a 10-80 and probable cause is now present due to evasion. Once the vehicle is stopped, it would now be searched again in accordance with Caroll vs United States. Do you agree not to ask staff members and/or command staff to look at this application? Yes
