Why do you wish to join the San Andreas Highway Patrol? Furthermore, what separates you from other candidates and makes you an asset compared to other applicants?
Being part of the San Andreas Highway Patrol feels like a very interesting job. The job takes a lot of skills and traits. Patience, teamwork, dedication and a lot more traits are needed when working in the department. I feel like a carry those traits I named before and have a good sense in reading situations. I'm a very calm and collected person and that can help in various situations and problem's that will occur on the job.
In your own words, explain what differentiates state law enforcement from local law enforcement, including jurisdictional concerns, and what duties you will expect to perform in the San Andreas Highway Patrol. Additionally, what other qualities do you believe sets the Highway Patrol apart from other agencies that operate in and around Lucid City?
The San Andreas Highway Patrol is there to cover the highways in the city. Other branches have there different areas that they need to cover and and patrol however that does not mean that other branches cant go into there area of operation. For example if there is a highway pursuit and and the San Andreas Highway Patrol are following into the city they are not going to stop the chase since the have entered the Lucid City Police Departments area. I believe that being a part of the San Andreas Highway Patrol you need to be in the right of state of mind and being calm and concentrated. You need to have a open mind and be as relaxed as you can but keeping that serious environment.
What is your priority in a situation - preservation of life (including a potential hostage situation) or catching those involved? Why?
Preservation Of Life - A human life is the top priority in any situation. You want to make it out of the scene with no injuries or any life's taken.
While on patrol as a base-rank Trooper, you find yourself having a few negative run-ins with a Corporal after a minor issue on-duty that you felt was resolved. You feel that your disagreement with them goes beyond professional levels and that perhaps this corporal has a personal issue with you. How would you proceed in dealing with this issue, knowing that a Corporal is a supervisor-in-training and a superior rank to you?
I would follow my next rank in my COC (Chain Of Command) and file a report on my situation and carry on with my job. If I feel like this is causing harm then I would do this ASAP and bring it up to the next person I see that is a higher rank then him.
While on patrol as a Trooper, you respond to a pursuit of armed felons that just committed a murder. You strike a civilian vehicle in the pursuit. Neither vehicle is disabled and there are no injuries. How do you proceed?
I would call for back and and get a search on the area that the vehicle was last spotted. Then I would make sure that the area was safe and and carry on my pursuit with the armed felons.
While on patrol as a Trooper, you respond and arrive on-scene at a bank robbery at the Fleeca Bank on Great Ocean Highway. While setting up a perimeter and beginning to negotiate with the suspects inside, you receive notification of a panic alarm being activated from an LCPD officer. How would you respond?
I would stay in the location I'm in and call for back up at his location. If there was no available units I would make sure someone takes the job I was doing at the scene and get to his location ASAP making sure that no one gets hurt or injured and that everyone is safe. When I get to his location I would scout it and and find out what the problem is and solve it the best I can.
While on patrol as a Trooper, you respond to a call of suspicious activity - possible narcotics trafficking - in the vicinity of Grove Street. You observe a heavily tinted vehicle exiting the scene as you arrive and decide to pull the vehicle over for a traffic stop. Potentially citing case law as well as reasonable suspicion and probable cause, what are you empowered to do, and what would you do to investigate? Additionally, if the vehicle were to flee immediately upon sight of you, how would that change things?
I would ask him what he is doing in the area and check is identification. If I feel like he is a suspect to the suspicious activity then I would call for back and a supervisor to get to my location. If the driver moves off then I would again call for back up and proceed with the chase. I would proceed due to if he had nothing to hide he would of just carried on with a normal traffic stop and I feel like he had nothing to do with it then let him go.
