It's not easy leaving everything you know behind. Family, friends, loved ones. All of them are at home and I probably won't see them for a very very long time. The airport should have been a deterrent to drive me away from what I wanted most, a last minute opportunity to make me tuck my tail between my legs and give up. But I had been working for this for too long. For too many days I had sat up late at night, not able to sleep, thinking about leaving my home for someplace with better opportunity for me. I had only seen about Lucid City in telley commercials and pornos where the actresses would be shooting in a high-rise apartment building that overlooked the city. But the idea of another country itself, something other than a small town in Ireland that would breathe new meaning into my life. With pressure from the IRA for me to leave, lest my family be harmed, it's a good enough reason to go as any. But perhaps that was the push I needed to get myself going. Only being 26 years old and turning 27 soon, it was time I flew the coop and moved on. I just hope that the crowded airport trying to deter me from going away was a final test to prove to myself how brave and capable I am. 

Rather than a bad omen of what is to come for me.
